We value our relationships with partner First Nations and members of the local Red Lake and Ear Falls communities. We are committed to continuous improvement in strengthening community relationships through meaningful engagement, ongoing open dialogue, supporting local social initiatives and by employing community members. At the Dixie Project and core shack facility, approximately 67% of all on-site staff are local Red Lake residents.
Great Bear Resources is proud to be working within the traditional territory of the Wabauskang and Lac Seul First Nations. We work diligently to honour our commitments within the Exploration Agreement we have held with both partner First Nations since April 2020 (see news dated May 26, 2020). Our Exploration Agreement establishes the framework for a cooperative and mutually beneficial relationship to support Great Bear’s exploration activities and the interests of both Wabauskang and Lac Seul First Nations. Through this collaborative approach, the Dixie Project will benefit from partner First Nations’ traditional knowledge regarding land use, environmental stewardship and cultural history stemming from a long experience in the region.
